He's growing up fast! This tie is a self-tie style, so he ties it himself. We get into sizing below, but it will fit most boys 8 to 13 years old. The material is a thicker weight and durable. We don't consider this a shiny tie, but the satin stripes do have a glossy appearance.
Sizing
When tied, the tip of a necktie should hit at about the belt line. Typically, this length of tie will fit most children ages 8 to 13 years old. Since kids vary in size, you might want to do a quick measurement to ensure this tie is the best fit. Measure the child from the collar to the belt line. The length should be roughly between 14.5 and 17 inches. Need a different size? For longer lengths, consider a men's tie.
